Offsite effects are that the eroded material is transported by wind and water to adjacent and remote locations, along spatial gradients such as slopes and water run-off channels, sedimenting in catchments and river deltas, dams and other water-harvesting installations, harbours, and damaging buildings, adjacent properties and other infrastructure as a result of flooding.
